A Little Pre-Vday Lovin’…

Red velvet cupcakes frosted with cream-cheese icing, overstuffed teddy bears, and more chocolate than Nestle all signify Love? Jefferson Bethke- the poet behind “Why I Hate Religion” released another poem this week titled “Sex, Marriage, & Fairytales”. Checout the link below! And as V-Day approaches, I thought I do something a little different and leave you with a poem I wrote called “Already Know You”.

Already Know You

Now through a broken and shattered perspective- I illuminate my voice,

That my window as cracked as it is still shines with choice,

Marriage, love, destiny, all intertwined into one,

A woman who dresses in the verses of Proverbs 31,

See- even before I see you, my faith colors your existence,

I bare all that I am to you without any resistance,

And I pray you can forgive all that I was, am, and will be,

See I already know us because I’ve prayed for WE,

I hope you can understand my victories and fears,

My triumphs and losses, my laughing and my tears,

Envisioning a purpose electrified and multiplied x 2,

See- words that I’ve spoken have already Leonardo Di’Vinci’d you,

Beautiful beyond compare, intelligent by design

Forgiving without reason, gifted and divine,

Seconds drive down minutes sailing past hours and flying by days,

Only to make tangible your face.

[Listening and Doing] My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, — James 1:19
