5 Ways to Discover Your Purpose and Vision

5 Ways to Discover Your Purpose and Vision

find-your-purpose

Purpose is one of the most important aspects of an individual’s life, yet few understand truly what their purpose is. I want to share with you five power principles that helped me to discover my purpose and I know they will help you to discover yours. What does purpose mean anyway? Purpose is simply the original intent for the existence of a thing. You are uniquely created and made for a special and specific reason. Here are 5 questions that will help you discover your purpose:

#5 What makes you mad or angry?

Believe it or not some of the things that make you angry and upset at the world are a clue to what you were purposed to do. M.A.A.D (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a non-profit organization of mothers who lost children to drunk driving. These women channeled their anger into purpose  and formed a collective that strives to make a difference. Gandhi hated injustice…. Martin Luther King hated segregation…. I think you get the picture. What makes you angry or upset? Is it poverty?  Sickness? Injustice? Drug abuse? The Media? Corruption? Child trafficking? Poorly cooked food? Find what makes you angry and fix it.

#4 What problems in the lives of others do you like to solve?

Sometimes the best way to feel better about yourself is by helping someone else. Solving the problems of others is what business is built on today. Bill Gates saw the problem that the computer did not have a specific interface so he created Windows desktop. Amazon’s founder, Jeff Bezos, solved the problem of providing a safe online shopping environment. Alexander Grahm Bell saw problems with the previous limited means of communication, so he invented the telephone. The world has many problems and you were put here to solve at least one of them.

#3 What is your area of expertise?

Education is a great thing but not just for the sake of getting educated. One should have general knowledge and in addition have special knowledge in a specific matter. Some of the worlds most accomplished people are known for their knowledge in one or more areas. When you think of Mary Kay you probably think of make Up, when you think of Will Smith you think of acting, when you think of Donald Trump real estate comes to mind. These people and many others chose a focus and concentrated on it until they became dominant in that subject. If you have something you never get tired of learning, this is a clue to your purpose.

#2 What would you do for free for the rest of your life?

At your current job, would you continue doing it if they said, “we decided you don’t need a paycheck any more?” Most people would probably quit because they are working for money. When you are working in your field of passion the joy you receive is worth more than money. Of course we need to take care of responsibilities, but when you are working your passion people will pay you to do what you love. People pay large sums of money to watch Venus and Serena play tennis, hear Madonna sing, watch Denzel Washington act, etc. If you work on your passion you will eventually get paid to do it. It just takes hard work, persistence, and dedication.

#1 What were you designed to do?

What do you do effortlessly? What comes with ease to you? What do others struggle in that you excel in naturally? You have been designed with specific gifts and talents and you are responsible to discover them. We all have a Designer who designed us and there is a reason for our specific design. Every car has a manufacturer and a manual that shows you how to use it. In the same way every human has a manufacturer and He is God. His manual for your life is the bible. He desires for us to seek Him to learn who we are and what we were called to do. Some stumble upon their purpose but wouldn’t it be great to find your purpose on purpose? Ask Jesus to come into your life today and ask Him to show you, your purpose. You will be amazed at what He has in store!
