Your Words Matter.
At your core, who do you believe yourself to be? Take a moment to describe yourself in 5 words…
Done? Great! Now, do those words show evidence of self-love and positivity? The words you use determine your perception about yourself and your reality. The power of your words is unimaginable. After all, they are how we understand one another’s experiences of the world.
Words either build or destroy. They either encourage or discourage. They either pick up or put down. Words are weighty—one of the most powerful influencers. They impact over and over, holding the ability to shape our lives. Words reveal what is in a person’s heart. Therefore, your mouth is both an entrance into your heart as well as an exit! Matthew 12:34 says, “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.” The things you say today, write today, and post today will live on in the hearts and minds of people for much longer than you will remember saying them.
Words also contain the power to defile your whole life! What you say impacts you as much as anybody else! James 3:6 states, “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”
Label a situation as a “problem” and you are in one hostile state. Call the same situation an “opportunity” and you’re in a totally different state. The first would cause a great deal of stress, whereas the second would fill your life with hope! Take the same situation, but change the words you use to describe it and you will gain a totally different perspective. Sometimes, you just have to encourage yourself and speak life over yourself and your situation(s)-speak things which are not, as though they WERE (Romans 4:17)! Shape your life by starting with your words. Free yourself from an oppressed mind by keeping negative thoughts out of your mouth! Again, the things you say today, write today, and post today will live on in the hearts and minds of people for much longer than you will remember saying them.
Life provides us with many opportunities to connect and learn from individuals, families and organizations we associate ourselves with. Think of those successful individuals you’ve encountered in your life. Now think about the ways they handle different multitudes of situations. Generally, throughout their experiences, one thing is certain, each individuals speaks LIFE into their situation- how they choose their words is important. And you can bet their words radiate hope, passion and possibilities!
What you say, matters.
So does your life reflect the emptiness or the radiance of your words?
