How to Live Expectantly: 5 Ways

Sometimes when there’ve been a long series of disappointing events, you can get into a very bad habit of just expecting more of what you’ve already had. I’ve definitely been there before, and if you’re anything like me, you can relate to the experience of hardships making you think, “What bad is going to happen next?”

A huge lesson learned in 2013 was we tend to get what we expect out of life; our  thoughts literally determine our world. So if we don’t expect much, the lesser is exactly what we will receive. Living in expectancy is taking a risk and believing there is an ability to achieve your heart’s desires.

Here are 5 ways you can live in expectancy in 2014 (and beyond)!

1) Have Faith:

Living in expectancy comes through your FAITH! It takes faith to accept anything good in our lives and we must understand that if life were easy, faith wouldn’t be required!

2) Walk yourself into a brighter future through positive self-talk:

Being an optimist or a pessimist boils down to the way you talk to yourself. Your mind tells your mouth what it will place into the atmosphere to shape your world. So mind your mouth because what you think and say truly does matter!

3) Dream big(er), give God something to work with:

Ephesians 3:20 says He is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond ALL that we can ask or think. So ask big & think big!

4) Be all in or get out. There is no halfway!

Don’t just wake up expecting. Go to bed expecting! Psalm 127:2 says, “God gives to His beloved while they are sleeping. Believe that because you are His beloved, He loves you. He will give good things to you while you are sleeping (visions). The universe may be old, yet it still births new dreams!

5) When things go wrong, praise.

Know that giving into negativity only invites it into your life. There shouldn’t even be time for that. Stressful situations shouldn’t be a huge factor as staying calm, cool, and collected will work dramatically in your favor. It is important to remember winners are people who experience hardship and failures, but never give up!

Today is your day to start believing something good is going to happen in your life! Whether you see it and feel it or not, keep expecting that good things are going to happen for you. For expectation is the womb of all manifestation (Acts 3:5) and God is longing to be gracious and good to you!

I pray you accomplish what you EXPECT too in 2014.

“But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.” -Isaiah 30:18
