3 Perspectives that will Change your Life

3 Perspectives that will Change your Life

2012-10-09-Santa-Clarita-News-Z1-1-Changing-Perspective

I want to warn you in advance, these three principles can change your entire life! They may seem radical at first, but as you apply them to your life, they can change your outlook and develop your self-esteem.

1.     Create your Eden Wherever you are

Have you every observed a child playing (seems like they’re always playing) in a mall, at home, an office, a bank, a library or anywhere else? What’s interesting is the way that they transform their environment no matter where they are. They turn churches into sandboxes, banks into amusement parks, and anything they see becomes a toy instead of its intended use. They don’t care where they are or who they are with; they’re determined to use their minds to envision what they want their environment to be, not the other way around. The sad part? As we become adults, we start to lose this child-like demeanor and we allow our environment to dictate what happens to us. God blessed us with the ability to create and cultivate our environment into what we think is worthy, but we rather allow our environment to dominate us. We let places of employment dictate our joy, we allow improper friendships to influence our behavior and we allow environmental elements like drugs, alcohol, and pornography to control our lives.

Confess this out loud!: TODAY I DECLARE THAT I WILL CREATE ENVIORNMENTS THAT ARE CONDUCIVE TO MY SUCCESS AND I WILL ENSURE MY GARDEN IS CULTIVATED TO PRODUCE THE BEST ME I CAN BE!

2.     Be Thankful for your Problems

Here’s a simple truth I learned some years back… It was a late night and I was cooking a late night meal. I was so tired that I left the food I was cooking (can’t remember what it was)  and left the stove on the stove on all night until morning. I woke up to a kitchen of smoke and a completely burnt dish and pan (don’t laugh… I know you’ve burned something before too J) .The shocking part is actually what came out of my mouth next; I said out loud, “I am thankful for the ability to have a pan with food to burn.” What I realized is that I had developed an unusual perspective just like the scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” So even the moments when you want to complain, just be thankful for your ability to have those problems, because someone somewhere is praying for the opportunity to experience what we VIEW as problems.

3.     No One Can Hurt you Without your Permission

I have come to realize that the person that can hurt me the most is me, the person that can lie to me the most is me, the person that can sabotage my success is me, the person that can love me the best (aside from God) is me, the person that can transform my life is me. God has put a self-destruct button on each of us and we are the only ones with access to push it. I live by this 100%! You can ask my wife; she’ll sometimes ask if she upset me and I’ll let her know, “Nope, you can’t upset me unless I allow you to upset me.” Check this scripture out- Deuteronomy 30:19, “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” God has given us the choice to be happy or sad, joyful or miserable, and so on and so on. It’s your decision- what will you choose?  Victor Frankl, psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, understood this very well; that’s why he wrote the famous words- “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: The last of human freedoms- The ability to chose ones attitude in any given set of circumstances to chose ones way.”

[To the Church in Laodicea] “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. — Revelation 3:14,20
