Do it Right the First Time

Do it Right the First Time

I come from a single parent home. My mother raised me, my older brother, older sister and younger sister. She taught us a lot of life skills that we needed to be adults. And, one of the things that I learned from her is that if you’re going to do something, do it right the first time.

If she would tell me to do something that I didn’t want to do (like wash dishes or clean my room), most of the time I wouldn’t do a good job at it, because I didn’t want to do it. And, then when she saw that I didn’t do a good job, she would give me the opportunity to go back and do it again.

And, that’s just like our relationship with our Heavenly Father. He may tell us to do something, and, it’s probably something that we don’t feel comfortable doing. So, we make the decision to go in the opposite direction and do what we want to do. Usually, the outcome isn’t exactly what we want or thought it would be.

God gives us another opportunity to get it right. He gives us another opportunity to follow His will for our life and not our own. He’s a God of the second chance. When we mess up, He’s there to help us. When we fall down, He’s there to pick up, dust off our pants and give us another chance to get it right. So, I want to encourage you today. If God told you to do something do it. Don’t be afraid because His will is perfect. There’s no safer place. Don’t try to work it out on you’re own because He has all of the answers. His instructions may not be comfortable right now, but just trust Him. Follow His will and do it right the first time so you don’t have to go back and do it again.

I hope that I’ve said something today that empowered, inspired or encouraged you. And, if so hit me up in the comments and let me know your thoughts.

The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare. — Psalm 25:14-15
